ACADEMICS

Academic Excellence lies at the heart of Paul Quinn College’s mission; along with the values of integrity, service leadership, fiduciary responsibility and an appreciation of cultural diversity.  A Paul Quinn College education provides students with the education, skills, and wisdom to meet the challenges and needs of our global society.

Paul Quinn believes the road to academic excellence starts with its dynamic General Education Core Curriculum. The  underlying  purpose  of  the core  curriculum  is  to expose  the  student  in  the  first  two  years  of their college  life,  to  structured experiences that facilitate successful retention and graduation.  Students gain foundational knowledge and values during these two years which enables them to make more informed choices regarding their academic and career goals.

In accordance with this principle and within the  liberal arts framework, a Paul Quinn student does not select an academic major until both the sophomore year and the General Education Core Curriculum requirements have been successfully completed.  As students enter into their junior year they will select a major, and draw upon the knowledge and skills gained during their first two years of matriculation.

Student success is everyone’s business at Paul Quinn.  Whether interested in Biology or Business; Education or Computer Science, students will find the support, resources and professional assistance they need from our helpful faculty and staff.
